In this painting, we chose what ever image we wanted and paint it with gouache and china ink. First we drew the image we chose using free hand. Then we painted everything that we didn't want to be black with gouache. After the gouache dried, we cover our entire painting in china ink and had to let it sit a while. Then we rinsed off the excess in the sink.
I'm Emma and I am junior at Mercy. Over the course of the year my passion for art has remained unchanged. In fact, its grown strong. That is because I saw how far I have come. This semester I drew things with a level of detail I could only dream of. I plan to stay with art and continue improving my skill. I hope you enjoy my work.

Ink Resisting Gouache Painting
In this painting, we chose what ever image we wanted and paint it with gouache and china ink. First we drew the image we chose using free hand. Then we painted everything that we didn't want to be black with gouache. After the gouache dried, we cover our entire painting in china ink and had to let it sit a while. Then we rinsed off the excess in the sink.
Portrait of friend
In this portrait, we took an image of a friend and could either china ink or acrylic paint to color it. Once again we need a picture that showed emotion. Then we sketched it on the light board and then proceed to paint it with acrylic. After that we could use any thing we wanted for the background. I chose to use acrylic paint for my background.
China Ink Art Portrait
In this project, we had to make a portrait of ourselves showing emotion. First we took a picture a picture of ourselves and then edited it till it was black and white. Then we traced it on the light board. We then used china ink to cover where all the black is. After that we made the backround using any medium, meatrial, we wanted. First I painted the backround blue. Then I used neckless chains, cotton balls, a key, buttons, silver glitter painy and pictures taken from the Internet. They all came together to create this work of art.
Favorite Candy Label
In this work, we took are favorite candy wrapper and zoomed in on it. First we got are candy then we made a rectangle and 6 boxes on a piece of watercolor paper. Then we sketched the logo and some zoomed in parts. Then we used either colored pencils or markers color it in.
Alphabet City
This project was defiantly a breather for everyone. All we had to do was go around and find letters in nature. Then edit them to make it even clear of what letter they were. After that we used app called PicCollage to finish it.

Painting with color backround
In this paint we worked on the skill of shading with paints. This was the most hated projected because of it's difficulty. We first sketched the still life that was set up. Then we proceed to paint it again using acrylic white and black paint. The blending was hard because paint dries. Later are teach announced that we can us color for the table cloth. so I chose my favorite color, blue. This is were every ones hatred of shading began.
Black and White Chairs
In this painting, we learned about positives and negative spaces. First we sketched some chairs stacked on top of each other while zooming in on one spot. After that we drew a big X in the middle of the drawing then we used black and white acrylic paint to color it. We painted it in a checkerboard pattern meaning if we painted the chair black in one section then the background would be white.
Skeleton shading
In this project, we were learning how to use charcoal to show value. We took a picture of our resident skeleton, Freddie, and then we sketched that onto a piece of black charcoal paper. Then we used our white charcoal pencils to shade it in and then we, well i used, cotton balls to to fade out the darker parts.
